AS OF 10/21/00 THE MOST RECENT STORIES ARE AT THE TOP
A LETTER FROM THE EDITOR:
October 2008, No one has sent me anything to post in the last 6 years. We hope to arrange a reunion in the Fall of 2009. Welcome to the Lawrence High School Class of 1959 Alumni
Newspaper. We will be pleased to post your stories if you attended Lawrence
in the late 50s and early 60s. The only criteria is that they be deemed
of interest to the alumni and conform to generally acceptable community
standards of the Five Towns circa 1959 era. Please send by email to barryend@aol.com.
Read the current Mental Pabulum for Lawrence High School. See if things have changed.
We look forward to your contributions.
From Victor Milt June 2001.

university.

we are at receiving this unexpected windfall...sincere

Hi -
I'm pleased to announce that our son Adam has been accepted
by the Dreyfoos
School of Performing Arts in Palm Beach, Florida for
his senior year in high
school. The competition was quite keen, and he had to
submit a portfolio of
his work, a live audition, his award winning TV commercial,
and a "live"
impromptu written assignment, plus interview with a jury
of teachers.
Over 2,000 students competed to get into the Dreyfoos
school and only 225
were finally accepted. Of these only 3 were seniors.
We are very proud of
Adam's achievement.
As a result of this and other considerations, we will
be moving to our home
in Boca Raton, on August 1, 2001.
Our address there will be:
1305 Bridgewood Drive
Boca Raton, FL 33434
tel: 561-482-1635
We will continue to work out of our Florida address. The
telephones, FedEx
deliveries and internet services are equally effective.
Please think about visiting us in our new residence.
Best wishes to all,
Kim and Victor Milt

Hi: Well we moved West, fires in New Mexico eliminated
our selection there,so we are in western Washington in a place called Nine
Mile Falls. Email stays the same. While moving I came across the PS#1 graduation
book with individual pictures of the whole class. If you would like me
to send it to you to place on the net let me know. My son made the front
page of the Burlington Vermont news paper for his work as head of the Walden
Project, which is an alternative school attached to the Vergennes School
District(he has been teaching senior English the past few years) and my
daughter is teaching Art in a school in NYC for challenged students, She
is also instructing in Yoga.Blessings to all Schlein
WEDDING ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Joel Gallof to Linda Glick, August 2000.
Linda Lipton and David Kopper, July 2000.
We both leave (I on Thursday and B on Saturday) for Italy for the rest of the month. He's shooting and I am involved in two events in Italy - both historic and rather important.
That is to say, a friend of mine (Rabbi) Rami Banin has been revivifying the Jewish presence in the Venetian Ghetto for roughly 8 years, the results of which are very obvious to those who have traveled to Venice since his arrival. He's a Bolognese who decided to "take back" the Ghetto for the Jews who were, until the pope's edict decreeing a "Getto" in 1565, the most important and flourishing community in Italy!!! I am helping him put together a formal fundraising arm that will enable him to "grow" the community with greater facility.
Secondly, I am involved in the founding (can you believe this!!!) of the first-EVER Reformed (Progressive) Congregation in Italy's history!!! (Rabbi) David Goldberg, Senior Rabbi of London's largest Progressive Synagogue, is spearheading this historic event and I have been asked to "come on board" as we move forward to concretize the plans. There are many reasons why Italian Jews want to have a Reformed congregation, but the most manifest is that there are many mixed marriages in Italy and for many years, especially since the War, Jews have been somewhat reluctant to identify themselves. Now, because of all the world attention to Holocaust history, Jews are more comfortable about "coming out of closet" and they want to have a congregation that accepts and supports them and their families whether religiously mixed or not. Since Orthodoxy was, until now, the only available religious choice in Italy, these people - from ALL over Italy - have appealed to the Reformed Movement to send a rabbi to help them get established. David Goldberg has been there twice to hold preliminary meetings, and this weekend we are going forward to "put this event on the map!"
So, while Bill is filming I, too, am quite busy with
meetings in various locations in Italy, and it's an exciting time to be
there.
I probably mentioned that I have been involved in
Holocaust research for some time now, and these commitments are very important
to me.
Barry--nice ski shots! Looks like you were having fun. I'm
finishing up my term as chairman here and going on sabbatical leave at
the end of the summer. We'll be cruising the Mediterranean for a few weeks
and then off to France for a bit. I can't wait! I'll try to remember to
send you some photos.
